Based in Leicester, UK, I've been DJiing since 1989.
Got my first decks when I lived at home and practised mixing in my bedroom.
Was inspired to take up DJiing by early house tracks and the acid house and
rave scene.
Artists like Todd Terry, A Guy Called Gerald, Inner City, Derek May, Blaze,
Ten City, Coldcut, Bomb The Bass, S Express and all the house sound of
Chicago albums where it all began for me.
The DJ name 'Scootaboy' started as a bit of a joke when I made mixed tapes
for mates and work colleagues.
The reason for the name is that in my youth I was heavily into the Mod revival
and have owned several Vespas and Lambrettas.
I worked for six years DJiing at weekends in clubs in Leicester and
Birmingham.
I was lucky to be DJiing at the height of the rave & Club scene in the early
nineties.
Anyone who was around at that time will know how special it was.
I gave up the Club DJiing to concentrate on my 'day job' but never stopped
buying records or mixing at home.
Currently I'm looking out for the right venue to hopefully get back into live DJiing.
For me DJiing is all about the music.
While there's still great tracks that give me goose bumps, make me want to
dance or make me pump up the volume to full - then I'll still be mixing.
