DJ CHIX AKA CHIXY
Always a great lover of music since he was a very young boy,Chix
started DJing much later than first planned.
An opportunity arose in 1999 to go to Tenerife as a challenge to
see if he could get some live DJing under his belt,having never
actually mixed before at this point,Chixy did years of research
& knew exactly what type of tunes he wanted to
play.
Trance is his personal favourite genre but also plays Hard House
and Old Skool club anthems in general.
Having said that Chixy also plays Hardcore,D'n'B,Electro,Breakz,
& Garage.
Having gone to Tenerife Chixy did initially struggle to find a
residency & had very little opportunity to apply his
ideas.
Eventually he got a residency at Buddies, an after hours club which
he held for the remainder of his time until he returned home in
2002.
Whilst he was there he had various guest spots & trials with
various bars & radio station Waves fm but nothing came of it as
he was too underground & not quiet commercial
enough.
He returned to his home in Chelmsford & found it difficult to
get chances to play out, he tried to start his own night up but
always found the promoting side of things very
difficult.
He then managed to get a weekly set on Renegade which lasted for 3
years building his way up from the "graveyard" set to 3 or 4 shows
a week.
He also had weekly sets after this time on Lush & Bass
including a guest set on ukobsession.
In 2005,Chixy set up an internet live radio station
essentialclubbers.co.uk with the grateful help from
Hicks.
This did prove to have it's many ups & downs & eventually
stopped around 2008 due to management problems.
In April 2011 Chixy came back with essential clubbers this time as
a podcast site,he can now see the goals that he found difficult to
achieve with the previous live radio site & is looking forward
to reaching them with a much bigger & wider range of genres of
Dj's/Mc's & producers from all over the world.
The quality of his podcasts are not as good as he would like but
they are recorded from old worn out tapes from sets & fm
transmissions.
